About the Journal
Focus and Scope -
Oklahoma State Medical Proceedings is an open-access peer-reviewed online journal published by Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. The journal is intended to provide high-quality scientific and medical literature to the health care community while supporting a forum for residents and fellow publications. While OSMP is sponsored by OSUCHS, it welcomes and encourages submissions from residents, fellows, and graduate medical students nationwide in order to enhance the professional and educational needs of its readers. This journal was designed to strengthen scholarly activity and bolster relationships between faculty and trainees in a collaborative effort in an arena that supports continuing medical education.
OSMP welcomes manuscripts that focus on medical, biomedical sciences, forensics, athletic training, medical education, pharmacological and health care administration-related topics.
Quarterly issues cover approximately 10 individual articles and features consisting of original research, meta-analyses, clinical cases, editorials, commentaries, special reports, and other brief items.
Peer Review Process
For authors, the time from receipt of submission to the first decision is four weeks and from acceptance to publication is 12 weeks. OSMP's acceptance rate is approximately 25%.
Submissions are first reviewed to determine if basic criteria are met. If the basic criteria are not met, the manuscript will be returned to the author. If all the basic criteria are met, the manuscript will go on to the section editor who will either reject or accept the manuscript in a double-blind review.
If the manuscript is accepted, it will go on to two reviewers who have expertise in the area. If the manuscript is accepted by both peer reviewers, it will return to the section editor with recommendations. Reviewers shall provide their feedback in terms of comments for the paper to improve the original manuscript's quality. If both peer reviewers reject the manuscript, it will be rejected. If only one peer reviewer accepts the manuscript, it will return to the section editor for final decisions.
If the decision is to accept the manuscript, the section editor will send the manuscript to the author for revision. Once all recommendations are completed, the author will return the manuscript to the section editor who will either reject the manuscript or accept it for publication. Once accepted, an editorial board meeting will occur and an issue will be designated and the manuscript will be published.
